OA Elangomat Training

This is Elangomat training in preparation for the Induction weekends. Any OA member interested in serving as an Elangomat should attend this training. Once you are trained, you will receive a discount code to provide a discounted price on the Elangomat registration variants for the upcoming Induction weekends. Hello, if you’re reading this it means that you are interested in being an elangomat, or just floating around the OA page, either way, you have the opportunity to serve the Lodge and make an impact. You may be asking yourself, “what does an elangomat do,” or, “why should I be an elangomat?” First, an elangomat is the guide for any arrowman participating in their ordeal. They are responsible for being the the face of the Lodge, smiling through the ordeal, pushing people to their best, while also making sure everyone is safe and drinking water. You will continue to keep in contact with your clan members, inviting them to events and encouraging to participate. Second, why do you want to be an elangomat? That answer can only come from you, do you feel a deep sense of service towards others, are you hoping to make new friends and have fun, whatever it may be, your journey to success begins here!


In order to be apart of the Extended Elangomat Training Program and continue the path to becoming an Elangomat, one must be capable of fulfilling all of the characteristics below:


  • Leadership experience

  • Knowledgeable of OA functions

  • Willing to act in the service of others

  • Follows the scout Oath, Law, and Obligation

  • Encouraging, Enthusiastic, and Efficient

  • Capable of effectively teaching others

  • Provides a comfortable and welcoming environment for others to learn and grow.

  • Guides others through even the worst of scenarios


As a scout, each youth and adult who attends the Extended Elangomat Training Program must be fully aware of his duty in the Order of the Arrow, and as to live by the scout Oath and Law in their daily lives. He or she must know the basic values and legends of the Order of the Arrow and be able to demonstrate these with his clan. It is crucial to the development of our new members that the Elangomat guiding them will be the best possible version of themselves and to set an example for others to follow. He or she must also to be willing to selflessly participate in the cheerful service and many tasks he will be assigned. It is the duty of all Elangomats, to provide a stable foundation and welcoming attitude for members traveling the path they once took themselves.

  • A focused mindset and enthusiastic attitude



Any youth or adult who attends the EEP training can expect to leave with an accurate understanding of the Elangomat/Nimat duties as well as the principles acquainted with it. This valuable knowledge will assist the Elangomat in his duties and provide the necessary skills required to be a successful guide. All Elangomats can expect to receive special awards and recognition, as well as a discount to Ordeals. He or she will learn the great values of a leader and how to positively impact the lives of others.
